BIOGRAPHY

Sam Byrd works on the News and Media Relations team in Public Affairs. As such, he serves as a writer for Rice News and INSIDE Rice as well as a utility player who supplements other areas of Public Affairs by drafting sponsored advertorials, creating content for Rice Magazine and performing other duties as assigned. 2024 marks Byrd’s first year on Staff Council, and he is looking forward to providing a voice to the university’s staff and creating a positive impact. With 10 years of higher education under his belt, he is excited to use his skills, background and knowledge to elevate the Rice experience for the staff as well as the entire Owl community.
