Executive Director, Office of STEM Engagment (R-STEM)

BIOGRAPHY

Matthew Cushing serves as the Executive Director for the Office of STEM Engagement (R-STEM). In his role, he manages day-to-day operations for the department, finances and budgets, oversees all K-12 teacher and student programs, and works with faculty on broader impact initiatives. He currently serves on the Texas Executive STEM Committee, Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) Greater Houston chapter, and the TX CS Leadership Network and previously served on the Science Teachers Association of Texas (STAT) Executive Board. In his free time, he enjoys rooting for all Houston sports teams, cooking, and volunteering with various groups at UH. He joined staff council in 2023 and is excited to engage with staff and find ways to advocate and be a voice for all staff members at Rice
